Life is shaped by opposites: joy and sadness, lightness and darkness, day and night, black and white. Each exists in relation to its counterpart; we recognize light because we know darkness, and we understand joy because we have experienced sadness.

This series of self-portraits explores different attitudes and experiences of life through contrasts and oppositions, using the self-portrait as a means of expressing these dualities.

The negative aspect is consistently represented on the left side of each image, through the black background and the woman dressed in black. The positive aspect appears on the right, represented by the woman dressed in white. Their contrasting positions and gestures further emphasize the tension between these two sides.

Each image conveys a particular emotion or state of being and through these contrasting figures, the series reflects on the coexistence and interconnectedness of opposing aspects of human experience.
